KAHAWATTA MURDERS DONE FOR AN ILLEGAL DRUG CASE

The cause behind Kahawatta murders have been an illegal drug case

It is revealed that the reason behind the tragic deaths of a mother and her daughter at Kahawatta had been due to an illegal drug case and not due to a dispute regarding a land case.
These murders had been done by Darshana Lokugamhewage alias Raju who is the brother of Dharmasiri, the council member of Kahawatta Pradeshiya Sabha. 
The police have arrested Raju and Sanath Nandana, a three wheeler driver who helped him in this murder and Raju’s wife and they are carrying inquiries about the murder.
Raju had been suspected for crimes before this as well and during the inquiries he had accepted that he committed these murders. He had confessed that the son of Dharmasiri the Pradeshiya Sabaha Council member and he had been dealing with illegal drugs and the reason behind these cases is related with their business.
Kavindya who died, had been the niece of Raju and he had once met her to ask for a favour and that had been to deliver a packet of rice to one of his friends through Kavindya every day.raju had made Kavindya promise him to keep it a secret between him and her.
According to their agreement, Kavindya had delivered a packet of illegal drugs to Raju’s friend every day without knowing what it contained.  One day as Kavindya had got a little sick on her way to the school, she had returned home without going to the school with the parcel still in her bag. Her mother had checked her bag and identified that it contains illegal drugs and kavindya had told her that it was given to her by Raju uncle.
Even though there had been a rumour about drug dealers, she had not known about it until that day till she had found the drugs belonging to Raju. Knowing that carrying illegal drugs is a serious offence, she had gone to Raju’s house and scolded him asking not to use her innocent daughter for his businesses. She had also mentioned that if he comes to involve them for his business that she would go to the police.
This incident had taken place in the early January. By the middle of January the son of the Pradeshiya Sabha council member had been arrested for an illegal drug case. Thus, he had made it a job and while being the Prison Welfare member, he had supplied drugs to the prison. Raju and the Pradeshiya Sabha Council member had suspected 52 year old Kavindya’s mother, Nayana Nilmini  since the last warning had been from her.
Thus, they have decided to kill both the mother and the daughter.
Raju, his wife and the three wheeler driver Sanath had done this murder. They have visited Nilmini’s house on the 30th of January around 8 o clock in the night and thus Raju’s wife had spoken Nilmini had opened the door as it had been a female voice. He had confessed that they have first killed Nilmini by blowing her head with a machete. Kavindya had come running asking “Why did you do that uncle?” and thus he had killed her too with the machete. She too had died at that moment.
However they had planned to prove that Kavindya was killed by raping her and thus they have taken her body in the three wheeler and taken her about 4 km into the woods. Raju and Sanath had taken off her ear rings and have washed the blood in her body and have raped her. After leaving her head to fall on her hands and they have escaped.
After this incident Raju had run home with bloody hands and blood had smeared on the wall and he had painted the wall to cover it and he had hidden the bloody clothes behind a rock in the nearby stream. The police found them after his confession.
The suspects have confessed that the murders were carried off to stop spreading of the news of their drug dealing.
