Ukraine's highest civilian honor has been awarded to American First Lady Melania Trump, in appreciation of her intervention to establish a ceasefire to rescue civilians trapped in a Ukrainian city under Russian control.

This award, named 'Princess Olga' (Order of Princess Olga), presented to women who make exceptional contributions to society, was bestowed upon her by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. An order published on the Ukrainian President's official website states: "I hereby announce the awarding of the First Class Order of Princess Olga to the First Lady of the United States of America, Melania Trump."

The relevant announcement commended her exceptional personal contribution to providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine, as well as her active human rights and charitable work. Last month, Melania Trump announced a localized ceasefire between Ukrainian and Russian forces, allowing residents of the city of Oleshky, who had been severely affected by food and medicine shortages for weeks, to safely evacuate.

In addition, she has been actively involved in efforts to repatriate Ukrainian children taken to Russia. As a further step, she has also stated that she is prepared to host representatives from both Russian and Ukrainian sides in Washington D.C. in the future.

While Melania Trump is thus honored with Ukraine's highest civilian award, the news report further indicates that her husband, Donald Trump, has long been hoping for the Nobel Peace Prize.
