Chinese President Xi Jinping has gifted a pair of pandas named 'Ping Ping' and 'Pu Shuang' to the Atlanta Zoo in Georgia, USA. China subtly uses the strong attraction of giant pandas among Western nations for its political objectives.

Until the 1860s, the British did not know about pandas.

The Western world became aware of this animal after the Catholic missionary Armand David saw a panda skin displayed in China in 1869. Subsequently, the arrival of pandas in Western countries created a strong craze among people. In 1939, Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret also posed for a photograph with a panda named 'Ming' at the London Zoo. Currently, zoos have to pay a large sum of up to a million dollars a year to display these animals.

Furthermore, if a rare panda breeding process is successful, the ownership of the cubs born automatically belongs to China. It is also reported that if a panda dies due to a mistake by the zoo, they have to pay a large fine of up to $500,000.
