Mr. Tilak Perera, Senior Photojournalist and Photo Editor of Lake House, who nourished the visual aspect of journalism in this country for over three decades, passed away on (20) afternoon at the Apeksha Hospital in Maharagama.

He received his primary education at Thalawathugoda Prime Minister's College and further education at Susamayawardhana Maha Vidyalaya, Colombo, starting his professional journey by joining the Photographers' Association.

Subsequently, after Tilak Perera joined Lake House, his talent was recognized by Senior Editor Mr. Tilakaratne Kuruvitabandara, who took steps to include him in the 'Sarasaviya' newspaper.

He was a unique artist who captivated readers' minds by adding many attractive photographs of veterans from the cinema, stage, and tele-drama fields to the front page of 'Sarasaviya'.

He contributed to providing visual life to a series of beautiful travel notes by touring the island with Mr. Dharmasiri Gamage, the inaugural editor of the 'Rasanduna' supplement in the 'Silumina' newspaper.

Later, under the guidance of 'Sunday Observer' editors Messrs. Lakshman Gunasekara, Jayathilaka Silva, and Dinesh Weerawansa, he succeeded in capturing many special moments in news, wildlife, and the cricket field with his camera.

During the Northern and Eastern war operations, Tilak Perera, disregarding the risk to his life, went to the front lines with the security forces and brought information from the battlefield to the readers.

Beyond journalism, he also showcased his talent as a still photographer for cinematic creations such as Buddi Keerthisena's 'Matha' and M. Safeer's 'Mama Newei'.

He was the beloved husband of Mrs. Chandani Athukorala and the loving father of Tharani Sarala, a sub-editor at 'The Morning' newspaper, and Tharushi Nethra.

The remains are placed at his residence, No. 351A, Pannipitiya Road, Thalawathugoda, and the final rites will be performed on Thursday, October 22, at 3:00 PM at the Thalawathugoda Public Cemetery.
