Yesterday (23) evening, a sudden fire broke out at a shop located in Nittambuwa town, which sells and rents machinery and electrical equipment. It is reported that considerable effort was required to control the fire that erupted at this shop named 'Figo Collection'.
Nittambuwa Police suspect that an electrical leak that occurred when power was restored might have been the cause. When the power in the area was disconnected, the shop owner had closed it and gone to his home. Subsequently, after power was restored around 7:00 PM and a short while later, this fire broke out in the upper part of the shop, which has been initially revealed during police investigations.
Nittambuwa Police state that two fire engines were deployed to extinguish the fire. However, due to the rapid spread of the fire, it was initially reported that the fire engines found it difficult to bring it under control easily. Accordingly, the fire was brought under control through the strenuous efforts of the fire brigade unit.
No definite assessment has yet been made regarding the total damage caused to the shop and its property by the incident. The cause of the fire has not yet been definitively confirmed, and Nittambuwa Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
