Mahinda Rajapaksa hospitalized

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of Nawaloka Private Hospital in Colombo this morning (12) due to a sudden cardiac condition.

According to sources close to him, the former President faced this sudden illness while staying at his residence on Poorvarama Road, Kirulapana. It is reported that a team of renowned specialist doctors in the island is currently providing him with urgent medical treatment in the Intensive Care Unit.

It is further learned that he had undergone several medical examinations over the past few days.

The former President had previously intended to visit his wife, Mrs. Shiranthi Rajapaksa, and Member of Parliament Mr. Namal Rajapaksa, who are currently remanded at Welikada Prison today. However, with the sudden onset of this illness this morning, steps were taken to immediately hospitalize him.
