Former Colombo Municipal Councillor Mahinda Kahandagama, who represented the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna and was arrested in connection with a case of possession of 'ice' drug and was being interrogated under detention orders, has been remanded.

This order was issued after he was produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate's Court today (12), and accordingly, he will remain in remand until October 26.

The former municipal councillor was arrested by the Central Criminal Investigation Bureau on the 6th with 'ice' drug. Subsequently, he was detained and further interrogated until today, based on legal permission obtained from the court.

Following the end of that detention period, suspect Mr. Kahandagama was produced before the court again today and was thus remanded until the 26th.
