The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today (14) informed the court that investigations into the alleged massive financial irregularities and money laundering that occurred during the process of purchasing Airbus passenger aircraft for SriLankan Airlines have now been completely concluded.
Accordingly, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) also stated before the court that steps would be taken to file indictments against Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa and other suspects in connection with this incident. These facts were revealed when the case was called before Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena.
Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa, who has been accused in connection with this lawsuit, has already been released on two personal bails of 100 million rupees each, as ordered by the court.
Considering the submissions made by the Criminal Investigation Department, the Fort Magistrate scheduled the relevant case to be called again on November 18th. Furthermore, the Magistrate further ordered the Commissioner General of Prisons to ensure that if Mr. Namal Rajapaksa is in prison on the day the case is called, he must be produced before the court on that day.
