10 vehicles collided at Akurana, 4 killed

Today (19), four people lost their lives in a horrific road accident that occurred this morning in the Kurugoda Junction area, near the 7th post belonging to Akurana, Alawathugoda.

This tragic situation was caused by a cement mixer vehicle that was traveling on the road colliding with several other vehicles and pedestrians. According to the Alawathugoda Police, nearly ten vehicles collided with each other due to this accident.

As confirmed by Police Media Spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police F. U. Wuttler, in addition to the four deceased, six other individuals were injured in the accident. Steps have been taken to promptly admit the injured to the Akurana Divisional Hospital for treatment. The Police Media Spokesperson further stated that the driver of the cement mixer vehicle is also among those hospitalized with injuries.

The Alawathugoda Police are currently conducting further investigations into this horrific accident, which claimed the lives of pedestrians and numerous vehicles traveling on the road.
