The missing paper driver has fled, leaving behind only the official vehicle.

Regarding the incident of the disappearance of the official cab and driver of the Chairman of the State Paper Corporation, the Wellawatta Police state that the driver, who had been missing for two days, abandoned only the official vehicle yesterday and fled. The driver who fled is a 29-year-old resident of Kendaliyaddapaluwa, Ragama.

On the 21st, the driver departed from the Corporation's head office on Stafford Road, Colombo 06, to the Chairman's residence in Kadawatha, to bring the Chairman to the office. However, the vehicle did not arrive at the scheduled time, and when the Chairman inquired about it, the driver stated that there was a fuel leak in the vehicle. Subsequently, on the Chairman's instructions, the vehicle was sent to a repair shop in the Kadawatha area, but technicians stated that there were no defects.

The driver did not return to the office until 4:00 PM that day, and subsequent attempts to contact him by phone were unsuccessful as the phone was switched off. Mr. Saman Priyankara Fernando, Transport Manager of the Paper Corporation, has lodged a complaint with the Wellawatta Police regarding this disappearance.

The abandoned cab has been found, and a police team, including Sub-Inspector V. Ganewatta, OIC of the Various Complaints Division, under the instructions of Chief Inspector Mohan Silva, OIC of Wellawatta Police Station, is conducting further investigations to apprehend the fleeing driver. Investigations are underway on several fronts, examining phone analysis reports and CCTV footage to locate the suspect.
