President Anura Kumara Dissanayake states that a country cannot be proactively advanced without a complete transformation in all political, economic, and social spheres. Speaking at a public meeting held today, he emphasized that the outdated political patterns of the past are entirely unsuitable for the modern era.
He pointed out that in the past, politicians ruled by dominating the people, and ordinary citizens were compelled to obey the rulers out of fear and subservience. However, the President also stated that a close and positive interrelationship between political leadership and the public is an essential factor for a successful journey.
He also clarified that the family-centric notion that a son should assume the presidency merely because his father was president is a characteristic of past political culture and not relevant to modern democratic politics. President Anura Kumara Dissanayake further stated that the era of nurturing such families, which prevailed in this country for a long time, has been completely defeated and ended by the people of this country on September 21, 2024.
