The owner of a house located in 'C' section of the Soysapura Housing Complex in Moratuwa died and three other people were injured due to a severe fire that suddenly broke out last night (23). The unfortunate person who died was the 84-year-old owner of the house, while his wife, son, and a 15-year-old neighboring child, who were injured in the fire, have been admitted to Kalubowila Teaching Hospital for further treatment.

To control the spreading fire, six fire trucks belonging to the Colombo and Moratuwa Municipal Councils were immediately dispatched to the scene. Following an operation carried out jointly by fire brigade officials and local residents, the fire has been brought under control.

During search operations conducted at the scene of the incident, the police managed to find 20 gas cylinders inside the house. Police currently suspect that a gas leak may have caused this sudden fire, and the reason for storing such a large number of gas cylinders inside the house has not yet been revealed. Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
