My elder sister also died two days after the King of Norway's funeral.

Two days after attending the funeral of the late King Harald of Norway, his elder sister, Princess Astrid, passed away at the age of 94. The Royal Palace issued an official statement announcing that her death occurred on Friday.

King Harald, 89, who reigned over Norway for more than 35 years, passed away last month, and his funeral last Wednesday was Princess Astrid's last public appearance. Expressing sorrow over the Princess's passing, King Haakon VIII stated that she had performed her duties for the Royal Palace with dedication and cordiality throughout her long life.

Born in Oslo, Princess Astrid was the second daughter of King Olav V and Crown Princess Märtha of Sweden. During World War II, in 1940, when Germany invaded Norway, she fled with her family to Washington D.C., returning to her homeland in 1945 after the war ended.

Following the sudden death of her mother in 1954, Princess Astrid, then 22 years old, took on the challenging responsibilities assigned to her as Norway's "First Lady." Accordingly, until Prince Harald's marriage in 1968, she undertook preparations for the Royal Palace and represented the state both domestically and internationally, alongside her grandfather, King Haakon VII, and later her father, King Olav V.

In 1961, she married Johan Martin Ferner, a Norwegian businessman and Olympic sailor. Due to the social opinions and traditions of the time, this marriage to a commoner caused considerable controversy. The couple, who were parents to five children, lived together until Ferner's passing in 2015.

Even past her nineties, she remained actively involved in numerous royal duties and patronages, stating around her 93rd birthday that she considered it her responsibility to serve the Crown usefully. Furthermore, until her passing, Princess Astrid was the oldest living lineal descendant of Queen Victoria of Britain.
