Monk Seelarathana, who was subjected to a mob attack, has been hospitalized

Venerable Battaramulle Seelarathana Thero, leader of the Jana Setha Peramuna, has been admitted to the Gampaha District General Hospital with injuries sustained in a mob attack. Hospital sources state that he is currently receiving residential treatment there.

It is reported that the attack occurred during a discussion held within the temple premises, centered around the organizational activities of a funeral ceremony. Following this incident, the suspect who carried out the attack has fled the area.

Weeragula Police state that several special police teams have been deployed in operations to immediately arrest the suspect involved in the incident. The exact reason for the attack has not yet been confirmed, and Weeragula Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
