The Kandy Magistrate's Court ordered the remand of Kegalle Urban Council National People's Power (NPP) Member Kasun Madhusanka Bandara until September 09, who is accused of causing a financial loss exceeding twenty-six million rupees to a real estate company.
The suspect MP was arrested by the Central Criminal Investigation Division. This order was issued after he was produced before the court. The lawsuit filed by the company states that the financial loss occurred due to the non-fulfillment of contractual conditions of a "Cabana" project carried out in the Kegalle District.
According to the agreement, this project, consisting of 18 cabanas, was supposed to be fully completed and handed over by February 11. However, investigations have revealed that the MP only completed and delivered 14 cabanas within the stipulated period.
Due to the non-completion of the project by the due date, the real estate company has taken legal action for the massive loss incurred. The Central Criminal Investigation Division is conducting further investigations into the incident.
