Aravinda de Silva's mother's death

Mrs. Rani de Silva, the beloved mother of veteran cricketer Aravinda de Silva, who left an indelible mark in the annals of Sri Lankan cricket, passed away today (14). She was 94 years old at the time of her demise.

She is considered the main strong foundation behind Aravinda de Silva's journey to becoming one of Sri Lanka's greatest batsmen, conquering the international cricket arena. The immense support she provided, from nurturing his cricketing abilities from a young age to helping him achieve an unparalleled contribution in the 1996 World Cup victory, was exceptional in making Aravinda's sporting career successful.

The arrangements and date for the final rites of the late Mrs. Rani de Silva's remains are expected to be announced by family relatives in due course.
