A Russian drone attack on a train carrying former British Prime Minister Boris and former CIA (CIA) chief Petraeus

Ukrainian railway authorities suspect that a train carrying former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and former CIA chief David Petraeus may have been targeted by a Russian drone attack near the Polish-Ukrainian border. It is reported that a Russian drone destroyed a Ukrainian train engine shortly after the train carrying the diplomats crossed the border.

This incident is a result of a massive series of night attacks launched by Russia across Ukraine. These attacks, using over 450 drones and missiles, have killed at least six people and injured more than 40. The Ukrainian Air Force destroyed 405 drones and four missiles mid-air. It is noteworthy that this time, even Western Ukraine, which usually experiences fewer conflicts, was subjected to severe attacks.

Due to this situation, other train passengers faced severe inconvenience. Passengers traveling on the night train from Kyiv to Chelm, Poland, spent about 10 hours at the border and were evacuated from the train to safe locations on three occasions. To ensure the safety of the passengers, railway authorities instructed them to hide among bushes near a lake, and no passenger sustained any life-threatening injuries from the attack. Additionally, a truck located less than a kilometer from the border was also damaged in the attack.

Commenting on the attack on his X account, Boris Johnson stated that this was yet another unjust and senseless act by Russia. The Ukrainian Foreign Minister pointed out that Russia's actions have now reached the doorstep of the European Union and NATO. Meanwhile, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk called an emergency meeting, warning that this escalating series of attacks in Ukraine could directly affect Poland in the coming weeks.
