A Beruwala businessman was abducted due to an unpaid debt.

Two suspects connected to an incident where a tourist resort owner in the Beruwala area was abducted, and his gold jewelry, money, mobile phones, and a motorcycle were robbed, based on a financial dispute, have been arrested by the Kalutara Crimes Division. This arrest took place on the 20th of last month in the Maggona area.

These two suspects, residents of the Maggona area, who had arrived at the said resort a few days prior to the incident under the guise of renting a room, intimidated the businessman and forcibly took him into a three-wheeler, transporting him near the Maggona Public Playground.

There, although the suspects demanded the return of a loan amount they had given, the businessman refused, whereupon they threatened him and robbed him of his bracelets, rings, three mobile phones, a wallet, and two bank cards. Subsequently, the suspects made the businessman call his wife and arranged for someone else to bring the motorcycle that was at his house.

Investigations were launched based on a complaint made by the businessman's wife to the Beruwala Police, and the suspects, who had evaded the area after the incident, were arrested by a police team led by the OIC of the Kalutara Crimes Division. The stolen gold jewelry, mobile phones, wallet, bank cards, and motorcycle have been taken into police custody, and the suspects were scheduled to be produced before the Kalutara Magistrate's Court.
