Samithpura Chathu, arrested in Oman, is brought back

Dimuthu Chathuranga alias 'Samithpura Chathu', a member of an organized crime gang against whom international red notices had been issued, was brought to the country this morning (18). The 28-year-old suspect, who was arrested in Oman by a team of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers, has thus been brought to the island.

Police Media Spokesperson and Assistant Superintendent of Police F.U. Wuttler stated that the suspect had been accused of numerous charges including murder, serious crimes, drug trafficking, and possession of a bomb. Due to these serious offenses, the police had even taken steps to issue international red notices against him.

The suspect, who was brought to Sri Lanka, has been taken to the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) for further investigations, and future inquiries related to the incident are scheduled to be conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department.
