Mr. Maheel Senaratne, a former chairman of the Sri Lanka Fisheries Corporation, was arrested today (18) by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption. He served as the chairman of the Fisheries Corporation during the period 2010 - 2012 and is the brother of former minister Rajitha Senaratne.
This arrest was made based on an accusation that proper approved procurement procedures were not followed in the establishment and maintenance of fish sales centers across the island.
