Peradeniya University closes due to bad weather

In light of the prevailing adverse weather conditions, all academic activities and examinations at the University of Peradeniya have been temporarily suspended until further notice. This decision was made with the aim of ensuring the safety of both students and university staff, as stated in a notice issued to students by the administration.

However, the administration further confirms that all essential services operating within the university premises will continue uninterrupted.

Students who are able to travel safely have been permitted to return to their homes. For students unable to return due to adverse weather, facilities have been provided to remain in university hostels after informing the relevant hostel authorities. However, students residing in the 'Sarasavi Medura' hostel are not eligible for this option, and it has been emphasized that the administration will not pressure any student to vacate the hostels.

Special arrangements have been made within the university premises for students residing in private accommodations located in high-risk areas, should they require temporary shelter. Hostel authorities have been instructed to provide residential facilities for such students and to maintain the necessary records and documentation regarding them.
