New American Ambassador Eric G. Meyer arrives in Sri Lanka

Mr. Eric Meyer, who has been appointed as the new United States Ambassador to Sri Lanka, has arrived on the island to commence his duties. The US Embassy in Sri Lanka confirms that he arrived in Colombo on the evening of August 22.

Mr. Meyer is scheduled to serve as the 29th United States Ambassador to the country.




Expressing his enthusiasm about being appointed as the Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Mr. Eric Meyer stated that it is a great honor for him to represent the United States in Sri Lanka. He said that he looks forward to further strengthening the strong democratic foundation between the two countries, creating new opportunities for the American business sector, and achieving common security objectives. He further pointed out that a key objective is to advance the US-Sri Lanka bilateral partnership in a way that enhances the economic prosperity of the people of both nations.

Prior to assuming duties in Sri Lanka, Mr. Eric Meyer served as the Acting Ambassador of the United States Mission in Norway. Additionally, he has held responsibilities as a Senior Bureau Official in the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs at the U.S. Department of State.
