Girl dies in Ragama accident

An eight-year-old girl has died and her mother and brother have been seriously injured in a road accident near Walpola Railway Station on the Ragama - Walpola road, when a lorry lost control.

A lorry traveling from Ragama towards Walpola lost control of its driver and collided with an oncoming car and another lorry. The lorry then ran over a mother and her two children who were walking along the side of the road before coming to a stop.

The severely injured mother and two children were immediately admitted to Ragama Hospital, where the eight-year-old girl, a resident of the Ragama area, succumbed to her injuries. The lorry drivers involved in the incident have been arrested, and Ragama Police are conducting further investigations into the matter.
