A young man flying kites was stabbed in Kadawatha

A 17-year-old boy who was flying kites in the paddy field behind his house in Kadawatha was attacked with a sharp weapon by three youths who arrived on motorcycles. The youth, who sustained injuries to his neck in this attack, has been admitted to Ragama Teaching Hospital for further treatment, Kadawatha Police said.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that this attack was motivated by a love affair. The main suspect involved in the incident was apprehended by residents and handed over to the police, while the other two suspects who fled later surrendered to the Kadawatha Police Station.

Police stated that the father of the main suspect arrested is a currently serving police officer. The three suspects thus arrested were scheduled to be produced before the Mahara Magistrate's Court today (31).
