No-confidence motion against the Justice Minister to the Speaker today!

Parliament is scheduled to convene today (21) at 09:30 AM under the chairmanship of Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramarathne, and the no-confidence motion prepared by the opposition against Minister of Justice Harshana Nanayakkara is set to be handed over to the Speaker today. Samagi Jana Balawegaya Member of Parliament Ajith P.

Perera stated that all political parties in the opposition would jointly present this no-confidence motion.




According to the Parliament Secretariat, two decisions under Standing Orders 119 and 120 are scheduled to be debated today for approval. A special motion regarding the referral of the investigation report by the Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) on the licensing mechanism for importing full electric vehicles for Sri Lankans employed abroad to the Attorney General will be debated from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Additionally, matters revealed by the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) regarding taking necessary legal action by referring them to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption are also scheduled to be discussed today.

The period from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM has been allocated for debating the adjournment motion regarding the performance of the Committee on Public Petitions. Meanwhile, Member of Parliament Dayasiri Jayasekara stated that a special discussion involving all opposition parties, chaired by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, has been organized to be held the day after tomorrow.
