Ishara Sewwandi within another month

The Colombo Crimes Division informed the court that a further 30-day detention order was obtained against Ishara Sewwandi, the main suspect in the shooting death of Sanjeewa Kumara Samaratne alias "Ganemulla Sanjeewa," an organized criminal, inside the defendant's dock at the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court. The Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court was informed about this yesterday (the 13th).

This shooting occurred on February 19, 2025, in Courtroom No. 5 of the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court, and the suspect, Ishara Sewwandi, who is currently in custody in connection with the incident, has been granted further permission to be detained until August 12. These facts were presented to Colombo Additional Magistrate Lahiru Silva by officers of the Colombo Crimes Division.

The Crimes Division also informed the court that necessary arrangements have been made to obtain red warrants through Interpol to arrest Supun Dayaratne alias "Heenatiyana Mahesh," who is suspected to be an organized criminal currently residing abroad, in connection with this murder. Considering the facts presented, the Additional Magistrate ordered the Colombo Crimes Division to report the current progress of the relevant investigations to the court.
