Hundreds of migrants from Morocco to Spain

Hundreds of migrants from Morocco breaching the Spanish border of Ceuta has caused severe difficulties for the country's border guards, leading to pressure on authorities to declare a national emergency. Scenes showing large numbers of people swimming across the sea, landing on the beach, and scattering across the streets have now been released through the media.

Since the only land borders belonging to the European Union that connect with Africa are the Spanish territories of Ceuta and Melilla, this unauthorized migration has become an extremely sensitive political issue between the two countries.

Ceuta's leader, Juan Jesus Vivas, has described this as a full humanitarian and social emergency, and it is reported that about 60 migrants have died and washed ashore. According to his data, over 1,500 people, including adults and children, have arrived by sea in the past few days alone, and all detention centers are already completely full. Mr. Vivas further stated that more than 200 people are entering across the border daily, and facilities for unaccompanied minors have exceeded their maximum capacity by about 2,400 percent.

This massive influx of migrants began after Spain's socialist government planned to grant legal status to half a million undocumented migrants. With security forces unable to control this insecure situation, enraged Spanish citizens were seen taking to the streets with Spanish national flags, chasing migrants to turn them back.

The Spanish Ministry of Interior states that it is working urgently to alleviate the situation, and Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska has departed for Ceuta to monitor the situation. The Spanish government also states that the Moroccan government is deploying security forces and working closely with Spain to control the situation. However, trade unions Jupol and Jucil, representing Spain's National Police and Civil Guard, are severely criticizing the government's actions, stating that officers are working under immense pressure without adequate human and physical resources. Furthermore, they accuse Morocco of deliberately using this migratory pressure as a tactic to gain political advantage.
