
The Colombo South Crimes Division has succeeded in raiding a large-scale brothel operating as a massage parlor in the Kurunduwatta area and arresting 11 Thai women. At the time of the raid, the owner of the establishment had fled the area, and investigations are underway to apprehend him.
The arrested individuals are a group of Thai women aged between 22 and 48 years.This raid was carried out after a sophisticated operation involving an undercover agent, based on special information received by the OIC of the Criminal Investigation Bureau. Investigations revealed that these women, who had obtained visas for only one month, had come to the country and were illegally engaged in trafficking while staying at the said spa center. It is also stated that they had been earning hundreds of thousands of rupees monthly through this.
Police investigations have further confirmed that an amount between Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 30,000 was charged for services from one woman. The eleven arrested Thai women are scheduled to be produced before the court for further legal proceedings.
