Woman killed in Kegalle seven-vehicle accident (photos)

Yesterday (22) afternoon, a horrific road accident occurred in the Mangalagama area of Molagoda, Kegalle, resulting in the death of one woman and serious injuries to ten others. This unexpected accident happened when a private passenger bus traveling on the Nuwara Eliya - Colombo main road lost control and collided with several vehicles coming from the opposite direction.

Police reports indicate that the accident occurred around 1:15 PM when the passenger bus made a strong attempt to overtake another vehicle. The bus, unable to control its speed, then collided with approximately seven vehicles, including those parked ahead on the road and those approaching from the opposite direction. Among the vehicles involved in the accident were two vans belonging to a local driving school, two trishaws, and one motorcycle.

The person who tragically lost their life due to this unfortunate accident was traveling in a driving instruction van. The other ten individuals who sustained injuries of varying degrees in the accident have been admitted to Kegalle General Hospital and are currently receiving treatment in the emergency unit.

A team of officers from the Traffic Division of Kegalle Headquarters Police is conducting further investigations into the incident.
