Rantathige Nishshanka Priyadarshana, also known as 'Dubai Sudda,' who was involved in an illegal racket sending Sri Lankans for jobs in Dubai and Moldova using tourist visas, was arrested today (01). Officers from the Police Unit attached to the Special Investigations Division of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) made the arrest in the Kaduwela area.

This raid was launched based on a complaint made to the Bureau of Foreign Employment by a resident of the Giriulla area. The suspect was accused of defrauding the complainant of seven hundred thousand rupees by promising a job in Dubai. When officers attempted to arrest him while he was hiding in the Kaduwela area after returning to the island from abroad, he tried to escape in his private car, but investigation officers thwarted his attempt and managed to apprehend him.

It is noteworthy that this suspect is a member of the Bulathsinhala Pradeshiya Sabha, representing the United National Party. Investigations have revealed that he primarily used social media networks to carry out his racket. He is considered one of the main traffickers sending people to Dubai via tourist visas, and he had previously been arrested by the Bureau of Foreign Employment and released on bail.

The arrested suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Kuliyapitiya Magistrate's Court tomorrow (02). The Bureau of Foreign Employment emphasizes that recruiting for foreign jobs without a valid license is a completely illegal act. If anyone has fallen victim to this individual's fraudulent activities and given him money, authorities urge the public to contact the Bureau's Special Investigations Division at 011 288 2229 to provide information.
