Two buses collided head-on in Lunugamvehera, 15 hospitalized (photos)

A horrific road accident occurred near the 170th post in the Lunugamvehera, Unathuwewa area, where two private buses collided head-on, injuring 15 people. The accident happened yesterday, the 11th, at around 5:30 PM, and it is reported that there was heavy rainfall in the area at the time.




The accident involved a high-speed private bus named 'Dilanka Express' (NE 5182) which was traveling from Colombo to Ampara via the Southern Expressway, and a private bus named 'Nimali Express' (SP NC 5122) which was traveling from Badulla to Matara.

The injured individuals from this severe collision were immediately admitted to Lunugamvehera and Debarawewa hospitals. According to hospital sources, the condition of one elderly person among the injured is serious, while the health condition of the others remains stable.




Lunugamvehera Police have commenced further investigations into the incident.
