A tractor overturned into the Mahiyanganaya Viyana Canal this afternoon (21), and its driver drowned and went missing, Mahiyanganaya Police said. Police also stated that the tractor, said to belong to the Irrigation Department, overturned into the Viyana Canal.
Police stated that this tractor overturned into the Viyana Canal near the Arawawatta Matchbox Bridge, and only the driver was traveling in the tractor at the time of the accident. The tractor, which was traveling towards Mapakada, overturned into the Viyana Canal because the driver lost control. The person who drowned and went missing in the accident is a 45-year-old resident of the Mahiyanganaya area. Mahiyanganaya Police officers, along with surrounding villagers, are engaged in searching for the missing person in the Viyana Canal, Mahiyanganaya Police said.
