Millaniya Police have arrested a 43-year-old coconut plucker in connection with the murder of a 58-year-old married woman who resided in the Halthota, Kannanthuduwa area, which falls under the Millaniya Police Division. The woman who was murdered in this manner is P.

Sudharma Palliya Wattage.

On the 11th, neighbors informed the police via a phone call that the woman had died. Accordingly, police officers visited the house and inspected it. As there were no suspicious signs visible at first glance, the body was taken to Horana District Hospital for a post-mortem examination. However, due to a bruise found on the deceased woman's neck, the police reported to the court that this was a suspicious death.

Subsequently, Horana Magistrate Ms. Lakmini Vidana Gamage visited the scene and conducted an on-site inspection, after which she ordered the police to conduct a post-mortem examination by a judicial medical officer. Accordingly, the post-mortem examination conducted by Judicial Medical Officer Mr. Sandakan Waduge of Horana Base Hospital revealed that it was a homicide caused by compressing the nose, mouth, neck, and shoulder areas, thereby obstructing the respiratory tract.

Following the receipt of this medical report, further investigations by the police revealed that there was an illicit relationship between the murdered woman and the suspect. Accordingly, during questioning after the arrest of the suspect, a resident of Wadduwa, police investigations further revealed that the death occurred during his attempt to prevent the woman from screaming. Investigations were carried out under the instructions of Millaniya Police Station OIC Chief Inspector Ruwan Indika, and the suspect was scheduled to be produced before the Horana court.
