Police seek public assistance to find the driver of the vehicle that came to kill the lawyer in Akuregoda.

Police are seeking public assistance to apprehend a suspect wanted in connection with the shooting and killing of a lawyer and his wife in a supermarket car park in the Akuregoda area, Thalangama Police Division, on February 16, 2026.

Further investigations into this double murder are currently being conducted by the Western Province South District Crime Investigation Division. According to the Police Media Division, the suspect acted as the driver of the motor vehicle used by the gunmen to commit this crime. The name of the suspect sought for arrest has been confirmed as Kaluarachchi Liyanage Niluksha Weerasinghe.
