
Kottawa Police state that although twenty-eight days have passed since a woman, found fallen on the main road near the Tuesday Market Junction on the main road connecting Kottawa and Athurugiriya, died, no relatives or guardians have come forward yet. Due to this, police authorities have had to keep the woman's body in the mortuary of Homagama Base Hospital.
This woman, who was found helpless at the said location on April 28th, was immediately admitted to Homagama Base Hospital via the "Suwasariya" ambulance service and passed away on May 1st while receiving treatment there. It is stated that although 25 days have passed since special announcements were issued to all police stations island-wide to find guardians for the post-mortem examination of the deceased woman's body, no response has been received from any party to date.
Although this woman, who was approximately fifty years old at the time of her death, stated her name as "Sandamali" during the short period she was receiving treatment at the hospital, no other document or evidence has yet been found to confirm her identity.
