The Colombo Crimes Division has launched a comprehensive investigation into the suspicious death of Mr. Kapila Chandrasena, former CEO of SriLankan Airlines. At the time of his death, he was staying at a house in Kollupitiya belonging to veteran cricketer Mr. Aravinda de Silva, and footage from CCTV systems installed in two adjacent houses has now been taken into custody by investigators.
It is reported that the entire period from the moment the deceased Mr. Kapila Chandrasena arrived at the said house after being granted bail by the court until his body was taken into police custody, is recorded in those security camera footages. In addition, investigating officers have also taken into police custody the DVR machine belonging to the CCTV system installed at Mr. Aravinda de Silva's house.
Authorities state that the relevant CCTV footage taken into police custody has been forwarded for further investigation. Concurrently, items found at the scene of death, including a water bottle and several unnamed types of medicine wrapped in paper, have also been sent to the Government Analyst for further scientific examination.
