Body of army soldier who drove a part-time three-wheeler found in a paddy field in Homagama

The body of an army soldier has been found in a well located near a paddy field in the Pitipana South area of Homagama. The police were able to find the body during a special investigation conducted based on a complaint received by the Homagama Police Station yesterday (15) morning.




The soldier who unfortunately lost his life was a 43-year-old army soldier residing in the Mahalandha area of Morontuduwa. It has been revealed that he was also engaged in driving a three-wheeler on a rental basis to earn extra income, in addition to his official military duties.

The soldier, who left in his three-wheeler for a hired trip the night before last, had not returned home, and his wife had filed a complaint regarding this at the Meegoda Police Station. During subsequent searches, the three-wheeler he had been driving was also taken into police custody near the well where the body was found.




The magisterial inquiry and post-mortem examination regarding this death have now been concluded, and the body has since been handed over to the family members. Considering this a suspicious death, officers from the Homagama Police Station are conducting further investigations into the incident.
