Police have succeeded in apprehending a person in the Polonnaruwa area who defrauded people living in various parts of the island by promising them foreign jobs and extorting money. During this arrest, carried out by a team of officers from the Polonnaruwa Divisional Criminal Investigation Unit, it was revealed that the suspect had been subtly operating this organized racket by posing as a fake doctor in society.

When this individual, a permanent resident of the Kuliyapitiya area, was arrested, a stethoscope used by doctors was found in his possession and taken into police custody. Police investigations have further confirmed that he had previously been arrested by relevant police stations in Kandy and Veyangoda on similar charges of defrauding people and swindling money. Accordingly, this fake doctor, who was arrested, is scheduled to be produced before the Polonnaruwa Magistrate's Court today.
