Investigations have been expanded following the suspicious discovery of the death of Mr. Kapila Chandrasena, former CEO of SriLankan Airlines, at a house owned by renowned cricketer Mr. Aravinda de Silva in Kollupitiya. It has been revealed that the deceased was a close relative of Mr. Aravinda de Silva, and due to this, the Colombo Crimes Division has extensively questioned and recorded statements from Mr. Aravinda de Silva, the owner of the house, his wife, and its employees.

According to an order from the Fort Magistrate, a five-member expert medical committee has been appointed to conduct a formal inquiry into this death, and they commenced their investigations today. Steps have also been taken to send parts of the body to the Government Analyst for further examination to confirm the exact cause of death. Although it was initially suspected to be a suicide by hanging, given the current circumstances, the Inspector General of Police has assigned the investigation to the Colombo Crimes Division. The police express confidence that the post-mortem report and the Government Analyst's report, expected in the next few days, will reveal the true facts of this mysterious death.

It is noteworthy that this death occurred on the very day Mr. Kapila Chandrasena, who was embroiled in a charge of accepting a two-million US dollar bribe in the world-renowned Airbus deal, was scheduled to be presented to court on a warrant related to the charge of misleading the court by presenting false sureties. The occurrence of this death inside the house of a veteran cricketer at such a critical and legally complex moment has sparked intense discussion and suspicion in society, and investigating officers are currently paying close attention to whether there is any unseen influence or organized conspiracy behind this incident.
