World peace has been lost due to the power-hungry selfishness of a single individual.

His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, Archbishop of Colombo, stated that due to the power-hungry selfishness of one individual and his intense desire to bring the entire world under his dominion, global peace has completely collapsed today, and the entire human race is suffering immensely. He made this statement while participating in the main Easter service held at midnight on the past (04th) at St. Lucia's Cathedral, Kotahena, Colombo.

The Cardinal, pointing out that everyone should pray together for world peace, also requested the devotees to pray to God for the individual's thoughts to change and for him to be freed from this destructive and weak path. He further emphasized how serious a tragedy one man's arbitrary actions have created for the people of the world.

The Archbishop, pointing out that no one can act in this manner if they truly believe in Christianity, also clarified that Christianity is not merely about praying, reading the Bible, or parading with priests to display one's righteousness to the world. He further explained that true Christianity is about embodying love and being pure before one's neighbor and God, and reminded that a true leader should always be a servant of the people. However, he further stated that current world leaders have not become servants of the people but have instead become a group of leaders who merely chase after power.
