Two Rupavahini bosses caught in bribery net

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has arrested Mr. Sarath Kongahage, former Chairman of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (2018-19), and Mr. Devapriya Abeysinghe, its former Director-General.

These arrests were made based on a serious allegation against them for causing a massive financial loss of Rs. 14.32 million to the Rupavahini Corporation during the relevant period.

According to reports, this loss occurred due to the illegal recruitment of six external employees, violating the approved staff limit of the institution.

Investigations have further revealed that the six employees thus recruited under the Rupavahini Corporation were subsequently assigned to duties in the personal staff of former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella.
