When a unique star bids farewell to the stage, marking the end of an era, the whole world sheds tears. However, an interesting invitation to celebrate her departure festively instead of mourning it is currently being discussed in the art world.

At a time when the entire Bollywood is in deep sorrow following the demise of the unparalleled singer Asha Bhosle on April 12th, popular singer Sonu Nigam has put forward this idea. He states that the life of that great artist, who dedicated her entire life to music and remained engaged in art until her last breath, should be celebrated with pride rather than mourned with sorrow.

Sonu Nigam emotionally recalled his past memories by adding a video about Asha Bhosle to his social media account. He remembered how she sang continuously despite a throat ailment, and sensitively described how he treated her during a painful heel condition she experienced during an American tour. Sonu, who was well aware of such conditions as his own mother suffered from a similar ailment, says, reminiscing about the past, that Asha Bhosle gratefully remembered the relief he provided by massaging her feet that day, even years later.

Beginning her musical journey with a Marathi film in the late 1940s and stepping into Hindi cinema in 1948 with the song 'Sawan Aaya' from the film 'Chunariya', she was the last link in the generation of giants who gave a new identity to Indian film music. Even two years ago, at the age of 90, she proved her immense love and dedication to her art to the world by performing live songs in front of a massive audience.

Sonu Nigam believes that with her departure, who can be called the last warrior of Bollywood's golden era, an old chapter of music has completely closed. The absence of an artist like her, who possessed a strong personality and was a teacher to everyone, remains an unanswered question today. Sonu Nigam has posed the question to society whether it is fair to mourn for her, who lived a perfect life, staying on stage until her last moment, as any artist would wish.

Though her physical body has departed, that immortal voice, which comforted the entire world for nearly eight decades, can never be silenced.
