Padukka Police state that a severely decomposed body of a person who mysteriously died was found on the afternoon of the 3rd in a patch of jungle in the Malagala area, Padukka. The unfortunate deceased has been identified as sixty-one-year-old Roopasinghe Kithsiri Gamini, residing at No. 171, Malagala, Padukka, which belongs to the 467 Malagala Grama Niladhari Division.

His wife, with whom he had one child, separated from him many years ago, and his only son is also reportedly married and living separately.

Police investigations revealed that this person, who earned a living doing various odd jobs, was heavily addicted to daily illicit liquor consumption. Since he frequently spent time away from home, his family was not initially alarmed when he did not return for a few days. Although it was common to receive news about him from somewhere, this time, after about five days of him being away from home, no information was received. Therefore, the family had requested neighbors to inform them if they knew his whereabouts.

A female relative of the family, who was aware of this request, was walking through a jungle to tap rubber when she noticed a strong foul odor. Upon searching the vicinity, she found the body in the thicket. Recognizing the shirt the deceased frequently wore, she identified him as the missing Mr. Kithsiri Gamini. She immediately informed the family, and after the family members arrived at the scene and confirmed the body was their father's, they proceeded to file a complaint with the Padukka Police.
