A brawl at the police station: IP and policewoman in hospital

A police inspector and a female police constable were hospitalized after being injured in a clash that occurred in front of the Minneriya Police Station. It is reported that these two officers engaged in a physical altercation, hitting each other, near the main entrance of the said police station on the 25th.

The main cause of this incident was a dispute over a financial transaction. The female police constable had borrowed a certain amount of money from the police inspector, and he had questioned her about her failure to repay it. This led to a heated verbal exchange between the two parties, which later escalated into a physical assault.

The police inspector, who was injured in this clash and is attached to the Anti-Corruption Unit of the Minneriya Police, has been admitted to Jayanthipura Hospital for treatment. Police sources confirm that the police constable involved has been admitted to Hingurakgoda Hospital. A special disciplinary inquiry has already been initiated against both officers, who behaved in such an unbecoming manner near the main entrance of the police station, with the intervention of senior police officers.
