NPP Provincial Councilor arrested for assaulting a neighboring young woman amidst a family dispute

A member of the National People's Power representing the Galenbindunuwewa Pradeshiya Sabha has been arrested by Moragoda Police on charges of assaulting a neighboring young woman who intervened to prevent him from assaulting his wife. This arrest was made on the night of the 22nd.

The victim of this incident is a twenty-five-year-old woman residing in the Moragoda area. The police confirm that due to the assault by the councilor, she has sustained bruises on her body and is currently hospitalized and receiving treatment.

The suspect councilor, his wife, and their two children reside in the house adjacent to the young woman's house. According to police sources, a family dispute arose between the councilor and his wife, and as it escalated, the wife, along with her two children, sought refuge at the neighboring young woman's house for safety.

Upon learning that his wife and children were in the neighboring house, the councilor forcibly entered the house and attempted to assault his wife. At that moment, when the young woman intervened to prevent it, the victimized young woman stated to the police that the suspect councilor assaulted her. Further investigations regarding the arrested suspect Pradeshiya Sabha councilor are currently being carried out by the Galenbindunuwewa Police.
