Cement manufacturing companies have now taken steps to increase the price of a bag of cement in the local market by an amount between Rs. 150 and Rs. 175. The manufacturers emphasize that this new price revision had to be made due to the continuous increase in the cost of producing cement.

Meanwhile, the National Construction Association of Sri Lanka states that in addition to the price of cement, the prices of other major raw materials used for the construction industry have also risen unusually. The association's president, Mr. Darrington Paul, pointed out that the sector is facing a crisis due to the massive increase in prices of all construction materials, especially sand, granite, and iron.
