Matale principal arrested for molesting a student

The principal of a national school in the Matale area has been arrested today (31) on a serious charge of abusing a student studying at that school.

The victim of this incident is a fourteen-year-old boy who is studying at the same college. An official complaint was lodged with the Mahawela Police yesterday (30) against the suspect principal, alleging that he sexually abused the minor student.

Following the receipt of the complaint, several police teams immediately launched operations to arrest the suspect, but he had already fled the area. However, residents provided information to the police during the night that the principal was hiding in several locations in the area. While police officers, acting on this information, were extensively searching the relevant locations, the suspect voluntarily surrendered to the Mahawela Police this morning (31), police further confirmed.
