Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa stated that due to the government's arrogance and inferiority complex, the country is further heading towards an abyss, and despite receiving good advice, the government is not ready to accept it. He expressed these views yesterday while participating in the opening of the office of Kegalle electorate organizer, Mr. Priyanka Senanayake.

He warned that currently the people are facing severe difficulties, and reintroducing the QR code as a fuel quota will restrict consumption, intensifying public frustration and the economic crisis. The Opposition Leader also recalled that last week in Parliament, when he made prior notifications regarding the emerging crisis in the Strait of Hormuz and requested a formal program, government ministers ridiculed it. He emphasized that although the Foreign Minister stated there was no impact on the country, the re-emergence of the QR code proves otherwise in reality, and the Samagi Jana Balawegaya will never exploit public discontent for political gain.

Mr. Premadasa pointed out that the government's actions are always delayed, stating that the government rejected his proposal to intervene and secure fuel when America granted a thirty-day pause for sanctions imposed on Russia. However, he noted that the government's inefficiency is evident from the fact that they only arranged to meet the Russian ambassador several days after the crisis escalated. He also mentioned that the government lacked foresight even regarding the potential war risks that could arise if Israel and America jointly attacked Iran.

The Opposition Leader accused the government, led by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, of lacking an understanding of proper state governance and of misleading the entire population by governing the country at a snail's pace without any prior preparation or strategy. He stated that the President rejected requests to change the unfavorable conditions in the International Monetary Fund agreements, as well as the proposal to convene an international aid conference after Cyclone Ditwa. He added that under such short-sighted governance, the people are completely disadvantaged, and the government only knows how to retaliate via social media when shortcomings are pointed out.

Mr. Premadasa accused the government of importing substandard coal even amidst the current economic crisis, presenting data to show that the amount of electricity that should have been generated yesterday was reduced by 135 megawatts due to this. He stated that the inability to produce the necessary electricity for power plants has forced a reliance on fuel power plants, and the burden of this coal fraud will ultimately fall on electricity consumers. He further declared that there is fear of substandard medicines being brought into the country and that a QR code might be introduced for farmers' fertilizer in the future. He affirmed that the truth regarding all issues, including environmental damage and national security, will be revealed to the people, and that the public should rally against this corrupt and inefficient government.

The Opposition Leader recalled that the government, which initially slandered the issue of menstrual poverty among women, has now acknowledged its necessity, and that the government later had to accept the truths spoken by the opposition during the COVID period. He emphasized that this government, based on lies, boasting, and theatrics, should set aside political vendettas and seek solutions to the country's problems. He further stated that the government should remember that even leaders who once claimed to be heroes were defeated by the power of the people and went home, and that the Samagi Jana Balawegaya and Samagi Jana Sandhanaya are always ready to fulfill the ultimate duty and responsibility of ensuring human survival.
