A senior spokesperson of the Ministry of Health has revealed that due to an agreement reached between the Ministry of Health and a private institution for the disposal of clinical waste collected from hospitals in the Western Province, the government has to bear an enormous financial loss of billions of rupees annually.

Preliminary investigations have confirmed that the fee currently being paid to the relevant private company for the removal of hospital waste is extremely higher than the prevailing market value, and as a result, the amount of money the government loses daily is in the millions of rupees. The official also points out that the conditions related to this agreement have been drafted by health authorities in a manner highly disadvantageous to the government, and there is strong suspicion of an invisible hand's involvement behind it.

Given this situation, the Ministry of Health has already decided to launch an immediate investigation into the controversial agreement. Furthermore, authorities are preparing to promptly submit a necessary cabinet paper to completely cancel the existing agreement and enter into a new agreement with strict transparency. He further emphasized that at a time when the country is facing a severe economic crisis, the large-scale flow of public funds to the private sector through such non-transparent transactions is a serious issue that warrants close attention.
