Peduruthuduwa Police state that a woman accused of assaulting a police constable on duty at the Peduruthuduwa District Court and her husband has been arrested. It is reported that on the 30th, after the court ordered her to hand over her eight-year-old daughter, who was in her custody, to her husband in connection with a divorce case, the woman behaved aggressively, removed her slipper, and carried out this assault.

The police further state that the woman has been arrested on charges of obstructing a police officer's duty, assault, causing injury, contempt of court, and unruly behavior. The arrested woman, 36-year-old Aiyankaran Pavida, has been remanded until the 13th of this month after being produced before the court. The assaulted police constable has been hospitalized and received treatment.
